Centre for Early Music Research
CIRMA was created in Moissac in 2001 to renew the historiography and transmission of music by establishing a relationship with memory and heritage at the heart of a reflection on the economic, social and intellectual issues of the contemporary world.
Activities proposed by CIRMA
The Diagonals
The “Diagonales de printemps”, “Diagonales d’été” and “Diagonales d’automne” are three annual meetings on a particular theme that combines symposiums, educational sessions and concerts. In Moissac and other places in the Occitania region.
An educational programme
Teaching in the form of singing workshops, of varying durations, for adults or children given at Moissac throughout the year or in partnership with other institutions (conservatories, universities, cultural foundations, festivals).
The CIRMA choir
Composed by the students of our training sessions, the CIRMA choir sometimes participates in projects of the Organum ensemble.Research programmes
In liaison with other research centres in Europe, the Middle East or North Africa.
Since 2001, CIRMA has been offering three annual events to its public: the Spring Diagonals, the Summer Diagonals and the Autumn Diagonals.
They scan the seasons and open at the time of meeting:
– Meeting with the men of the past, their music, their visions, their forms of thought and their relations to art
– Meeting of men of today who come from all over the world to experience differently so-called cultural phenomena
– Meeting with a site and territory: Moissac, its abbey and its population.
The festival takes its name from the CIRMA’s historiographical approach, which includes music from the south and east of the Mediterranean basin in the same movement as European music.
